It is effective in extinguishing electrical fires, liquid fires involving flammable liquids or melting solids, solid surface fires, as well as certain gas fires that can be isolated from their fuel source before extinguishment.

FM200 (HFC-227ea) operates primarily on chemical suppression principles while also incorporating physical suppression effects.
