ASTM B209 5052 aluminum sheet medium to high strength magnesium
alloy sheet
Description of 5052 aluminum sheet:
5052 aluminium is a higher strength non-heat treatable alloy with
2.5% magnesium, 0.25% chromium alloy, commonly available in flat
rolled coil, sheet and plate from a wide range of producing mills.
When annealed it is stronger than 1000 series & 3000 series.
The alloy benefits from a medium to high fatigue strength making it
an excellent choice for use in structures which are exposed to
excessive vibrations. 5052 also offers very good resistance to
corrosion, especially in marine application. With good weldability
and formability characteristics, the alloy can be used in a wide
range of applications. Alloy 5052 is also produced as a treadplate
with mainly industrial applications.
