Optical characteristics of fiber media converter is decided by different optical module or single crystal receiving and transmitting tube.

 

The corresponding relationship of optical characteristics and transmission distance: Parameters of different optical transceiver from different manufacturers are different, there are many situations:

1, PECL circuit matching parameters are different (external resistor and capacitor elements with different parameters);

2, At the same wavelength, transmitting power is different (transmitting power is bigger and bigger with the increase transmission distance);

3, Fiber port receiving sensitivity is different (receiving ability is more strong if receiving sensitivity negative value is increased);

4, Fiber port type is different (FC, ST, SC);

5, As an important part of fiber media converter, optical transceiver plays an important role in electro-optical conversion, it affects the transmission distance and transmission speed.

 

The relation between transmission distance and optical module:

1, Single-mode fiber transmission loss: the loss 0. 5dBm/Km at wavelength 1310/1300nm; loss is 0. 25dBm/Km at wavelength 1550nm; Multimode fiber transmission loss: loss is 3dBm/Km at wavelength 850 nm;

2, Dynamic range calculation: transmitting power-receiving sensitivity = dynamic range of optical transceiver;

3, Calculation for single-mode transmission distance: (dynamic range - insertion loss - access loss - other losses) /dBm/Km.
