Optical fiber fusion splicer is mainly used for the construction and maintenance of optical fiber cable, so it is also called optical fiber cable splicer. The working principle of fiber fusion splicer is melting two optical fiber ends by high-pressure arc and fuses the two fibers into one fiber with high precision movement mechanism, its purpose is to realize mode field coupling of the two optical fibers.

 

Ordinary optical fiber fusion splicer generally refers to single fiber fusion splicer; in addition, there are special fusion splicer for ribbon fiber, fusion splicer for drop fiber cable, fusion splicer for polarization maintaining fiber and so on.
