Introduction of decanter centrifuge

Decanter centrifuge is the forth phase solids control equipment for 2-5 micron separate by centrifugal force at 30 cubic meters per hour treating capacity. AIPU Solids Control supply various options of electrical drive centrifuges with bowl size from 220mm to 550mm size. Before centrifuge treatment, the drilling mud need to be treated by shale shaker, desander and desilter for 15-25 microns finally by desilter cyclone.

Working principle

The working principle of horizontal screw centrifuge is very simple. It has been known by the public for a century. The drum and screw are supported by separate suspension.The material enters through the inlet pipe and accelerates into the core drum body through the drum.

Decanter Centrifuge Main Component


Rotating parts including centrifuge bowl and screw for stainless steel material. Screw impeller is coated with tungsten carbide for protection of impeller wear. The most popular size bowl is 355mm diameter and 1250mm length for maximum rotating speed 3500RPM.


Main motor and assistant motor installed to drive centrifuge bowl and screw for flame proof standard.


Electrical control panel is same explosion proof standard compares with centrifuge motor. VFD control panel can be supplied for various speed control depending on mud conditions.

Other than decanter centrifuge, AIPU is able to supply a complete solids control equipment and tank equipment like centrifugal pump, mud agitator, mud gun and degasser. The whole tank design and pipeline arrangement is customized as per request.

High Speed Decanter Centrifuge


Model: APGLW 355x1258D. AP is the short name of AIPU Solids Control. G means high speed rotating, LW means horizontal centrifuge. 355 means centrifugal bowl diameter 355mm, 1258 means bowl length is 1258mm.
Mud flow capacity: 35 cubic meters per hour.
Max bowl speed: 3800 RPM at separation factor 2035G.
Main drive motor size 37kw, accessorial motor size is 7.5kw. The rotating difference between bowl and screw is 35RPM.
Electrical control panel: Fix speed electrical control panel can make the centrifuge operating at a fixed speed bellow 3800RPM. VFD control panel to make centrifuge frequency speed from 0 to 3800 RPM depending on drilling conditions.
Rotating part like bowl and screw is made by stainless material SS316L. The impeller is coated or welded by tungsten carbide alloy
