Working Principle
Electromagnetic induction and magnetic field interaction
The working principle of shaded pole motors is mainly based on
electromagnetic induction and magnetic field interaction. 12. This
type of motor is a single-phase AC motor characterized by the fact
that the magnetic poles of the stator (i.e. the outside of the
motor) are partially surrounded by one or more short-circuit rings
(also called "shield rings" or "shadow rings") shield. When the
stator winding is connected to a single-phase AC power supply,
alternating magnetic flux is generated in the stator core. These
flux lines pass through the short-circuit ring, creating an induced
current in the short-circuit ring. Due to the presence of the short
circuit loop, the magnetic flux is different from that of the
unshielded part and also lags behind the unshielded part in phase.
This difference results in the formation of a pulsating,
approximately rotating magnetic field in the motor air gap.
This rotating magnetic field cuts through the rotor (i.e. the
rotating part inside the motor) and creates an induced current in
the rotor windings. The interaction between the current-carrying
rotor windings and the rotating magnetic field of the stator
creates a starting torque, causing the rotor to start rotating. The
direction of rotation of the rotor is usually from the unshielded
part to the shielded part.

Structure
