Material
Gray cast iron, consisting mainly of silicon, sulfur and carbon, is used not only in industrial manufacturing but also in stuffing boxes and towers. Because of the high carbon content of gray cast iron, close to the eutectic composition, so the melting point is relatively low, good mobility, small shrinkage, so suitable for casting complex structure or thin-walled castings. In addition, because graphite is easy to form chip breakage during cutting, so the machinability of gray cast iron is better than steel.
