Lithium tantalate (LiTaO3) is a perovskite which possesses unique optical, piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties which make it valuable for nonlinear optics, passive infrared sensorssuch as motion detectors, terahertz generation and detection, surface acoustic waveapplications, cell phones and possibly pyroelectric nuclear fusion.
