Composite decking has become increasingly popular over the past few years. It is quickly becoming a "must-have" outdoor product for homes and commercial spaces everywhere. Composite decking is a quality alternative to traditional wood flooring, offering the look of natural wood with the added benefit of low maintenance.
There are two types of composite decking available on the market today. Uncapped composite decking is also known as the first generation of composite decking. And capped composite decking is the second generation of composite decking. Both are made by an extrusion process using recycled plastic and wood fiber mixed together. The difference, however, is that capped composite decking is wrapped in a protective polymer shell.
Outdoor composite decking is an excellent choice for decking projects. Capped composite has many of the same characteristics as other premium composite decking materials: it is durable and extremely resistant to rot, chipping, and warping. However, capped composite decking is more popular among high-end deck manufacturers, and has a protective polymer shell. As a result, in addition to the many benefits common to composites, capped composite decking is more resistant to mold, water, and fading. This is why capped composite decking is a bit more expensive.
COOWIN® capped composite decking features a rugged polymer shield that covers the core 360 degrees. The core is made of wood fibers, PE polymers, and additives.COOWIN composite decking is more durable and safer than wood. You can use any composite decking product from COOWIN® with confidence. We will provide you with a high-quality outdoor deck that is far superior to traditional wood construction.

The first-generation product has been improved with capped composite decking. It adds a polymer shell and a deep 3D embossed wood finish to the first generation of uncapped composite decking. The large, stiff molecules that cover the soft porous core reduce water absorption and extend the life of the decking compared to the first generation. Furthermore, it gives composite products a cleaner, more aesthetically pleasing finish.
For the first few months, first-generation composite wood decking fades slightly, but the color remains consistent throughout. Capped composite decking is more resistant to fading and staining due to the protective polymer shell. Capped composite decking, on the other hand, provides excellent slip resistance. However, it has a lower slip resistance than uncapped composite decking. This is due to its polymer (plastic) protective shell being slightly more slippery, as you might expect. If you want composite decking with a lot of traction, uncovered composite decking is the way to go. More foot grip is provided by composite decking with 3D wood grain or grooves.
The polymer shell of Capped composite decking also adds the benefits of durability, scratch, and abrasion resistance. The capping also contains UV inhibitors. As a result, it has a much longer life than first-generation composite lumber decking. Both capped and uncapped composite decking types are environmentally friendly and offer unmatched value for your home. for double joists where butt joints may be required.
Install the first composite deck accurately using the initial
fasteners. Following that, matching hidden fasteners are
recommended for rapid and secure installation.
Allow adequate room at neighboring composite deck joints to allow
for deck expansion.
Use a straight board to guide the circular saw when trimming to the
size of the deck edge. This will allow for a more defined composite
trim board edge.
