Materials
There are plastic centrifuge tubes and glass centrifuge tubes commonly used in laboratories, generally plastic tubes are used more often because glass centrifuge tubes cannot be used in high speed or ultracentrifuge. Plastic centrifuge tubes are made of PP (polypropylene), which has a relatively good performance. Plastic centrifuge tubes are transparent or translucent, so you can visually see the sample centrifugation, but they are more easily deformed and less resistant to the corrosion of organic solvents, so their service life is shorter.

Chemical resistance
There are many factors that affect the chemical resistance of an experimental appliance, so the true chemical resistance also depends on the actual test conditions. Compounds can affect the strength, elasticity, surface properties, color, appearance and weight of plastic products. The basic modes of causing these changes are as follows:
(1) Compound disruption of polymer chains, resulting in the absence of physical properties, including oxidation; reaction of functional groups in and on the chain; and depolymerization.
(2) Physical changes, including softening and swelling of the plastic due to solvent uptake; solvent penetration through the plastic; and decomposition in the solvent.
(3) Stress cracking caused by internal and external stresses resulting from the reaction of "stress cracking agents".
 
A good fit ensures the integrity of the centrifuge tube during use, without deformation or breakage.
