There is a set of system databases in any version of SQL Server. The system databases are master, model, msdb and empdb. The files of these databases are stored in the MSSQL word directory Data folder of the default installation directory of SQL Server.
master database
The master database is the most important database in SQL Server.
It is the core database of SQL Server. The master database contains
all the login names or user IDs to which the roles belong, the name
and related information of the database in the server, and the
location of the database. Important information on how to
initialize SQL Server in four areas.
model database
The user creates a database based on a set of predefined standards
as a model.
The model database is the basis of the tempdb database. Any changes
to the model database will be reflected in the tempdb database, so
when deciding to make changes to the model database, you must
consider it in advance
msdb database
The msdb database provides SQL Server Agent with the necessary
information to run jobs, so it is another very important database
in SQL Server.
tempdb database
The tempdb database is used as a temporary storage space for the
system. Its main function is to store temporary tables and
temporary stored procedures created by users, store global variable
values specified by users, create temporary tables for data
sorting, and store data filtered by users using cursor descriptions
