What is anaerobic digestion?
Anaerobic treatment is an effective method for industrial wastewater treatment. It USES anaerobic bacteria (biomass) to convert organic pollutants or chemical oxygen demand (COD) in an anaerobic environment into methane gas. Anaerobic microorganisms (specific to anaerobic conditions) have been selected because of their ability to degrade organic matter in industrial wastewater, converting organic pollutants into biogas (methane + carbon dioxide) and small amounts of biological solids.
