EDVC No-slam check valves are silent in-line and specifically
designed to automatically protect critical components from reverse
flow as well as pressure transients. Fast and prompt closing is
assured due to the powerful spring and short valve stroke. As
forward velocity begins to slow, the spring assist starts to close
the disc. By the time it reaches zero, the valve disc is closed
against the seat before reverse flow can occur, preventing a peak
of pressure in the line and water hammer phenomena.
In addition, Velan ABV offers a compact version of No-slam check
valves, providing the same reliability and quality of the
traditional No-slam valves, but with significant space and weight
savings.

ADVANTAGE:
One of the primary advantages of non-slam check valves is their ability to effectively prevent water hammer, and, therefore, eliminate resultant pressure swings, vibrations, and damage.Non-slam valves have a short stroke, which facilitates soft closing quickly in the event of rapidly reduced flow to prevent water hammer. Because they feature only one moving part, the disc itself, non-slam check valves experience minimal wear over time. In many designs, the spring is also fully protected from the process flow. Together, these factors help to greatly extend the service lives of non-slam check valves over more traditional valves. Non-slam check valves’ extended lifespan and reduced maintenance requirements ultimately allow for greatly reduced operational costs, which mean a lower cost of ownership over the full life cycle of the part.
DISADVANTAGE:
Non-slam check valves’ main disadvantage is that they cannot be used where line cleaning maintenance requires line “pigging.”A piggable valve is essentially a valve that allows a pipeline pig can pass through it. The valve has a bore the same size as the pipeline that it is attached to; there are no obstructions when fully opened.
