Thermostatic bimetal strip for electrical engineering applications
Brief description
Thermostatic bimetal is a laminated composite material that usually
consists of two firmly joined metals or metal alloys with different
rates of thermal expansion In case of temperature changes the
strips, disks or parts change their shape in a defined way
If this change in shape is suppressed, a setting force is obtained
which can be used for a mechanical displacement
By combining it with cladding and intermediate layers certain
properties such as electrical resistivity, corrosion resistance etc
can be deliberately influenced
Applications
Thermostatic bimetals are established in a wide range of
applications other than microelectronics
They are used to control or limit temperature-dependent variables
by means of a relatively simple design
Their easy handling as well as their high reliability and low costs
are the decisive advantages for their application in:
Electrical engineering
Automotive industry
Measurement technology
Heat technology
